Hours have been spent planning and discussing. You’ve made phone calls, sent emails and texts. Dresses have been altered, final confirmations with vendors have been done, and it is officially 7 days until your wedding. AHHHH! As you’re going through these last seven days as a fiance, what should be your focus? Well, we’re glad you asked! For starters, your main goal should be relaxing! You don’t want to get to your wedding day and feel a breakdown from stress coming on. Your big day should be fun and enjoyable with your new spouse, family, and friends surrounding you with love! Set aside time to do some pampering. Whether that looks like a massage, facial, or mani/pedi, check out Jeanne Maureens and Bellagio in Hammond to treat yourself! Make sure leading up to your wedding day that you’re drinking plenty of water and getting good sleep. You want to be well rested before dancing the night away!
After you’ve scheduled some time to relax in the upcoming week, make sure that you have your marriage license. This can be an easily forgotten detail in the hustle and bustle of wedding planning, but this is the official document that makes your marriage legal! When planning to get your marriage license, check out our blog on how to make it as effortless as possible! Five to seven days out, is the time to confirm any last minute RSVPs with those guests that you’re still waiting to hear from. You’ll also want to deliver the final headcount to your venue, confirm any essential shots with your photographer or videographer, and make sure the bakery is providing a cake box to save the top tier. Sit down and prepare any final payments or gratuity for your vendors so that you’re not scrambling around the day of your wedding! You’ll also want to designate a point person, whether that be your day of coordinator or trusted friend. This person will help resolve any issues on the day of and will be in charge of grabbing gifts or decor and facilitating clean up after the reception! To make sure you’re fully prepared, try on your full wedding look prior to dropping off your dress to be steamed. Make sure you’ve got all accessories and spend a minute practicing your walk down the aisle in your wedding day shoes. Make sure you pack your wedding day bag with anything you’ll need and also create and pack an emergency kit for all of the “just in case” scenarios. (write blog on wedding day emergency kit and link here) Someone will want to check in with the groomsmen to make sure everyone picks up their tuxedos as they come in! As you get closer to the wedding day, make sure you’re honeymoon ready too! Confirm any details that you’ll need to make your getaway with your new spouse and make sure you check on hotel check in time too. Packing your bags beforehand will make picking up and leaving so much easier, especially if you have an early flight! After packing, take some time to clean your home so when you return home from your honeymoon you can enjoy some downtime as Mr. & Mrs. Just a few days before the wedding, you’ll want to make sure you get your ring cleaned. You’ll want it to sparkle for your rehearsal and at your wedding! If you’re doing any gifts for your family, bridal party, or fiancé make sure you’ve got those finalized and packaged up. You’ll want to make sure these are just grab and go before the rehearsal or day of your wedding. Your bridal party will be spending lots of time together getting ready and dressed. Make sure you create a fun, getting ready playlist to enjoy some jams all together! Your wedding day will be one of those big, life moments for you and your partner. It will be all about you, but it will also be filled with the people you love at your rehearsal, getting ready, during the ceremony and reception. You and your partner should spend some quality time together earlier in the week. Whether it’s a date night out or in, take some time to talk about your excitement and fear as you begin your journey!
